Air Canada inaugurated its newest international route on April 3rd, with the first non-stop flight from Vancouver (YVR) to Singapore (SIN). The 12,818 km route is now the airline’s longest by distance, with a flight time of up to 16 hours and 5 minutes.
“Air Canada is thrilled to welcome customers onboard our newest route linking Canada and Singapore from our Pacific hub in Vancouver,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President of Revenue and Network Planning at Air Canada.
The four-times weekly, year-round service will operate with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners offering three cabins – Air Canada Signature Class, Premium Economy, and Economy. Passengers have access to complimentary meals, beverages, and inflight entertainment.
For British Columbia, the new route opens opportunities for travel, tourism, business collaborations, and access to global markets according to Minister of State for Trade Jagrup Brar. YVR President and CEO Tamara Vrooman highlighted the $18 million economic impact and job support.
Singapore is a strategic gateway for Air Canada, with onward connections across Southeast Asia, Southern India, and Western Australia through the airline’s Star Alliance partnership with Singapore Airlines.
“We are delighted to welcome travellers to Singapore to explore new attractions and experiences ranging from dining to wellness offerings,” said Rachel Loh, Senior VP of Singapore Tourism Board Americas.
Air Canada’s Aeroplan frequent flyer program members can earn and redeem points on the new route. The airline aims for net zero emissions from all global operations by 2050.
