Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines have cancelled numerous domestic flights scheduled for Saturday, November 16, as Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-yi) approaches super typhoon status near Eastern Visayas.

Cebu Pacific announced the cancellation of 17 domestic flight pairs, primarily affecting routes to and from Tacloban, Legazpi, Naga, Masbate, Calbayog, and Virac. Philippine Airlines has cancelled 10 flight pairs serving similar destinations.

The cancellations come as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that Pepito was last located 220 kilometers east northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar, with maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour and gustiness reaching 215 kph.

Both airlines have implemented flexible booking policies for affected passengers. Cebu Pacific offers free rebooking within 30 days of the original flight date, conversion to a Travel Fund, or a full refund. Philippine Airlines provides similar options, including conversion to non-expiring travel credits and rebooking within 60 days.

“The safety of our passengers and crew remains our utmost priority,” Cebu Pacific said in its advisory. The airline urged passengers to reconsider non-essential travel during this period.

Affected passengers are advised not to proceed to the airport if their flights have been cancelled. Both airlines recommend monitoring their respective websites and social media channels for real-time flight updates.
