Philippine Airlines (PAL) has unveiled a series of significant adjustments to its international network, affecting routes across the Middle East, East Asia, North America, and Australia.
The airline announced it will temporarily suspend flights between Manila and Dammam, Saudi Arabia, effective November 1, 2024. This move is part of a broader restructuring of PAL’s Middle East network.
“We plan to continue to serve the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with our daily Manila to Riyadh service,” PAL stated in a circular to travel agents. The carrier will also maintain daily flights to Doha and Dubai.
In East Asia, PAL is ending its Manila-Macau route, with the last flights operating on August 29, 2024. The thrice-weekly service (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays) will cease after this date.
The Manila-Beijing route is also facing significant changes. While regular service will be suspended after October 8, 2024, a single flight is scheduled for October 22.
Additionally, the Manila-Guangzhou route will operate on limited dates: September 28, October 1, and October 8, 2024.
This, as airlines scale back operations on Chinese routes in response to weaker-than-expected demand.
On the positive end, PAL is introducing a new route from Manila to Seattle, starting October 2, 2024. This service will operate three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, marking the carrier’s entry into a new North American market.
Meanwhile, the Cebu-Osaka route launch has been delayed. Initially set for July 1, then postponed to October 27, it is now scheduled to start on December 22, 2024, operating three times a week on Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays.
The airline advises affected passengers to contact their travel agents or PAL representatives for assistance with rebooking or refunds.
