Korean Air announced the launch of seasonal charter flights connecting Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN) to Taichung International Airport (RMQ) in Taiwan.

The service will operate three times a week from May 2nd to June 29th, offering travelers a new option for exploring the burgeoning tourism destination.

“Taichung is the second largest city in Taiwan and located in the central part of the island,” stated the Korean Air press release. “[It] has recently been featured as a noteworthy travel destination on several TV programs in Korea, and is gaining attention as an up-and-coming destination in Taiwan.”

The flights will depart from Seoul Incheon at 3:30 PM local time, arriving in Taichung at 5:15 PM. Return flights will leave Taichung at 6:50 PM, landing back in Seoul at 10:40 PM.

Korean Air will utilize the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft for the route, offering eight seats in Prestige class and 138 seats in economy class.

Taichung offers a variety of attractions for visitors, including the Gaomei Wetlands, often compared to the Uyuni Salt Flats, and the scenic Sun Moon Lake, renowned for its cable car rides and boat cruises. The city also boasts the vibrant Fengjia Night Market, a haven for culinary exploration.

With this addition, Korean Air will operate a total of 24 roundtrip flights per week between Seoul Incheon and Taiwan, including existing services to Taipei from both Seoul and Busan.
