All four runways at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport are in use as the runway where a Japan Airlines (JAL) Airbus A350 collided with a Japan Coast Guard Dash 8 on the evening of January 2 has been reopened for operations.

According to Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism, Runway C at Haneda (16L/34R) was reopened at midnight Monday (January 8) after the wreckage of the A350 and the Dash 8 were removed and restoration work was completed on the runway.

As the ministry announced the runway reopening, it advised that more aircraft will fly at lower altitudes over central Tokyo for around a month until some damaged lamps along the runway are fixed.

Following the collision, flight operations at Haneda were suspended. The three other runways were reopened later the same night.

Since the closure of Runway C on January 2, over 1,200 flights were cancelled affecting more than 200,000 passengers were affected during the New Year holiday season.
