The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has lifted a precautionary suspension on Topflite Academy of Aviation Inc. (TAAI), permitting the flight school to resume training operations effective August 6, 2025. However, the regulator has stipulated that the academy will remain under strict monitoring and surveillance.
In an August 9 statement, the CAAP confirmed it requires Topflite Academy to submit corrective action plans to address findings from a recent inspection. The suspension followed a July crash involving the school’s Cessna 172M Skyhawk (RP-C2211) near Iba Airport in Zambales.
While the academy’s operations have resumed, the CAAP stated that all pilots involved in the July incident remain suspended pending the outcome of its ongoing investigation. The regulator affirmed it will maintain “heightened monitoring and surveillance to ensure compliance with all safety requirements.”
In its own press release dated August 8, Topflite Academy announced the resumption of its flight training and confirmed it had fully cooperated with the regulatory investigation. The academy stated its teams provided CAAP investigators with “complete access to all student, maintenance, and technical records.”
According to the academy, “all compliance requirements have been fully met or are now in the final stages of documentation and implementation.” It also held a town hall meeting on August 7 to brief students, parents, and other stakeholders on the developments.
“The resumption of flight operations stands as an affirmation of Topflite Academy’s commitment to safety, professionalism, regulatory compliance, and the highest standards of training,” the flight school said.
CAAP noted its oversight is aligned with the government’s directive to “uphold the highest standards of aviation safety and accountability.”
