Philippine Airlines (PAL) has officially launched its new direct service between Manila and Da Nang, Vietnam. The inaugural flight, PR585, operated by an Airbus A321-231(SL) registered as RP-C9905, departed from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at 11:27 AM and landed in Da Nang at 12:31 PM today.

The new route will initially operate three times a week, with plans to increase the frequency to four weekly flights by November 2025. The schedule allows for an early morning departure from Manila, giving travelers more time to explore Da Nang upon arrival.

A send-off ceremony was held at NAIA Terminal 1 to commemorate the first flight, attended by airline executives, government officials, and diplomatic representatives.

We at Philippine Airlines are proud to celebrate our inaugural service linking Manila and Da Nang.

Richard Nuttall, Philippine Airlines President

“As we welcome Da Nang to our global network, we affirm that PAL now serves three destinations in Vietnam, more than in any other ASEAN country, and that speaks of the solid bond of friendship that unites the Filipino and Vietnamese people. We look forward to flying travelers to the gateway of Central Vietnam.”

The new connection is seen as a way to enhance diplomatic and cultural relations between the two countries.

This flight is more than a connection between two cities; it’s a bridge between our people, cultures, and shared dreams.

His Excellency Lai Thai Binh, Ambassador of Vietnam to the Philippines

“This is particularly significant as both countries prepare to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-Philippines Strategic Partnership in 2025 and the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Philippines diplomatic relations in 2026 (coinciding with the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairmanship).”

The route also addresses the increasing travel demand between the Philippines and Vietnam.

Shahlimar Hofer Tamano, Department of Tourism (DOT) Chief of Staff and Undersecretary, stated, “As Vietnam continues to rise as one of the most visited destinations by Filipino travelers, and as the Philippines also welcomes more visitors from Vietnam, this direct connection responds to the growing demand for accessible and enriching tourism experience.”

Da Nang is a growing tourism hub, known for its mix of cultural sites, beaches, and proximity to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites. With this addition, PAL now operates a total of 24 weekly nonstop flights to Vietnam, serving Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), and Hanoi.

Philippine Airlines will deploy its Airbus A321 aircraft for the Da Nang service. These jets are configured with 199 seats across Business and Economy Class cabins.
