Mactan-Cebu International Airport has earned recognition as the 7th most improved airport worldwide in the 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards. The Philippine gateway joins an elite group of international airports acknowledged for exceptional quality improvements over the past year.
The World’s Most Improved Airport award reflects quality improvements across Skytrax’s comprehensive Airport Awards programme. The recognition analyzes airports’ changes within global ratings and performance improvements across multiple award categories to identify the most enhanced facilities over the last 12 months.
Berlin Brandenburg Airport claimed the top position as the World’s Most Improved Airport in 2025. Almaty International Airport ranked second, while Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport secured third place in the global survey.
The complete list of the World’s Most Improved Airports 2025 includes Berlin Brandenburg (1st), Almaty (2nd), Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (3rd), London Gatwick (4th), Taiwan Taoyuan (5th), Ulaanbaatar (6th), Mactan-Cebu (7th), Punta Cana (8th), Nadi (9th), and Mumbai (10th).
Mactan-Cebu International Airport serves as the primary gateway to the Visayas region and handles both domestic and international flights. The airport has undergone continuous improvements to enhance passenger experience and operational efficiency.
The recognition comes as the global aviation industry continues to focus on service quality improvements. Skytrax conducts its annual World Airport Survey by collecting feedback from customers worldwide, evaluating various aspects of airport operations and passenger services.
World’s top airports lead global standards
While Mactan-Cebu earned recognition for improvement, Singapore Changi Airport maintained its position as the world’s best airport in 2025. Changi Airport is renowned for its unrivalled passenger experiences and serves as one of the busiest passenger hubs in Southeast Asia.
Doha Hamad International Airport secured second place, described as “the most architecturally significant terminal complex in the world, as well as being the most luxurious.” The facility serves as the hub airport for Qatar Airways.
Tokyo Haneda claimed third position among global airports. Located less than 30 minutes south of central Tokyo, Haneda operates three terminals and ranks among the world’s busiest airports.
The top 10 list includes Seoul Incheon (4th), Tokyo Narita (5th), Hong Kong International (6th), Paris Charles de Gaulle (7th), Rome Fiumicino (8th), Munich (9th), and Zurich (10th).
