Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia’s new premium international airline, has finalized a firm order for 25 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. The landmark agreement was signed at the Paris Air Show, marking a significant milestone for the carrier’s fleet development.
The deal includes an option for an additional 25 jets, potentially bringing the total A350-1000 commitment to 50 aircraft. This move positions Riyadh Air to become the first airline in Saudi Arabia to operate this modern widebody aircraft.
This aircraft acquisition is a key component of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, a national strategy aiming to attract 300 million air passengers annually by the decade’s end. The goal is to establish the Kingdom as a premier global hub for aviation and tourism.
Adam Boukadida, Chief Financial Officer of Riyadh Air, stated that the A350-1000 will bring “outstanding efficiency and comfort” to the fleet. He added that the order signals the airline’s intent to “shape the future of air travel” and support the Kingdom’s growing aviation ecosystem.
Representing Airbus, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business, praised the strategic partnership. He highlighted the A350-1000’s “unrivalled efficiency, range and passenger comfort” as an ideal match for Riyadh Air’s growth plans and Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives.
The Airbus A350 is recognized as one of the world’s most modern and efficient widebody aircraft, setting new standards for long-haul travel. It also boasts the longest range capability of any commercial airliner currently in production.
In line with global sustainability trends, the A350 is already capable of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus has set a target for all its aircraft to be 100% SAF-capable by 2030.
