Philippine Airlines has revealed that the country’s first Airbus A350-1000 is now under production at Airbus’ facility in Toulouse, France—a key step in the airline’s long-haul fleet modernization strategy.
The aircraft is the first of nine A350-1000s ordered by PAL, with the delivery of the initial unit expected in the fourth quarter of 2025. The remaining jets will be delivered progressively through 2028.
The current production phase involves assembling the aircraft’s five major fuselage sections—nose, forward fuselage, center fuselage, rear section, and wings. These components are being fitted with necessary systems, including power, water, and air lines, before moving to the final assembly line where avionics, control cables, and advanced systems will be installed.
Airbus applies strict quality checks throughout the process to ensure each aircraft meets its rigorous safety and performance standards.
“We’re happy to share with you a glimpse into our very first A350-1000,” said PAL President Richard Nuttall. “The fleet game-changer will significantly boost PAL’s passenger capacity and reinforce our commitment to delivering world-class service.”

PAL EVP and COO Atty. Carlos Luis Fernandez highlighted the strategic importance of the aircraft. “We selected the A350-1000 because it will provide us with the flexibility to balance demand with capacity. The new-generation aircraft are central to responding to the demands of our growing market, regionally and internationally.”
The A350-1000 is among the world’s most advanced long-haul aircraft, featuring Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines that support flights up to 16,100 kilometers. It also boasts improved fuel efficiency and reduced carbon emissions—aligned with global sustainability efforts in aviation.
Each aircraft will seat 382 passengers across three classes: Business, Premium Economy, and Economy. This configuration is tailored for PAL’s expanding long-haul network, especially transpacific routes.
PAL currently operates a fleet of 79 aircraft. In addition to the A350-1000s, the airline is expecting 13 A321neo regional jets starting 2026, supporting its regional expansion plans.
With the A350-1000, Philippine Airlines joins the ranks of top global carriers operating ultra-long-haul aircraft, ushering in a new era of comfort, performance, and efficiency.
