Cebu Pacific, the Philippines’ leading low-cost carrier, commemorated 20 years of operations in Hong Kong by honoring overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who have played a crucial role in the airline’s journey.

At a special event on June 15 titled Gawad Parangal Para sa Bagong Bayani, Cebu Pacific presented its first-ever public Values Awards to five outstanding OFWs. These awards, previously reserved for employees, were given in recognition of the recipients’ embodiment of Integrity, Service, Trust, Courage, and the Best of Filipino Spirit.

“OFWs have been with us from the very beginning,” said Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific’s Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer. “They’re not only our most loyal customers but also a part of the Cebu Pacific family.”

The awards ceremony was hosted by Philippine Alliance, the largest Filipino community organization in Hong Kong. Among those present were Philippine Consulate officials and key community leaders, who joined in paying tribute to the honorees.

Each awardee received a plaque of recognition and a free international roundtrip ticket from Cebu Pacific. “Being recognized for our efforts gives us a deep sense of pride,” said Dante Berido, Chairman of Philippine Alliance. “It means a lot to be seen, valued, and celebrated—not just as workers, but as people who make a difference.”

The celebration capped this year’s Migrant Workers’ Day, reinforcing Cebu Pacific’s long-standing support for OFWs. Beyond this symbolic event, the airline continues to roll out programs dedicated to the welfare of Filipino migrant workers.

Among these initiatives is the upcoming OFW Processing Center at Mactan-Cebu International Airport, designed to streamline the travel experience for returning workers. Cebu Pacific is also collaborating with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and various NGOs to expand support systems for OFWs.

Additionally, the airline recently launched Juan Flight Closer to Home, a campaign aimed at offering aviation engineering roles and full relocation support to OFWs wishing to return to the Philippines.

With a growing network of 37 domestic and 26 international destinations, Cebu Pacific remains committed to connecting Filipinos—wherever they may be—to home and opportunity.
