The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has partnered with Aireon, a global leader in space-based surveillance, to strengthen aviation safety through data analytics.
On Thursday, June 26, CAAP and Aireon signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the CAAP Central Office, in a bid to modernize the country’s aviation infrastructure.
Under the agreement, Aireon will provide CAAP with a three-month free trial of its Aireon Safety Dashboard Platform—a web-based tool designed to help Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) detect and analyze safety risk indicators across their airspace.
The one-year collaboration will allow CAAP to assess the tool’s capabilities and offer technical feedback to support its refinement. Aireon, in turn, will conduct workshops to help CAAP enhance its monitoring of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) interference and Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) events.
This partnership builds on a prior engagement between the two organizations. In December 2024, CAAP subscribed to Aireon’s space-based ADS-B data to support air traffic management within the Manila Flight Information Region (FIR).
