AirAsia continues its dominance in the low-cost aviation sector after being named the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline for the 16th consecutive year at the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2025.

The recognition, announced during the Paris Air Show, highlights AirAsia’s sustained excellence in affordability, connectivity, and guest experience. The airline’s multi-hub operations across Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Cambodia currently serve over 130 destinations.

We started with a simple dream to make flying affordable for everyone. To be recognised for the 16th time reaffirms that we have stayed true to that mission and continue to soar high in the minds of the many millions of passengers who choose to fly with us each year.

Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, Capital A Chairman

Tony Fernandes, Capital A CEO, added: “This is a deeply emotional win for me. From flying just 200,000 guests in our first year to aiming to welcome our one billionth guest this year, this journey has been made possible by the unwavering support of our guests, and the tireless dedication of our incredible Allstars.”

Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted noted that AirAsia’s continued success “is a clear reflection of their dedication to providing quality, affordable travel options to customers.”

AirAsia’s success is rooted in its ability to connect both major cities and emerging travel hubs—launching routes like Manila-Tagbilaran and Jakarta-Silangit, which boost tourism and regional development. The airline is also eyeing expansion into Central Asia and the Middle East.

In celebration of its latest win, AirAsia launched promo fares starting at just ₱116 one-way base fare for select domestic and international flights. The booking period runs from June 18 to July 3, 2025, for travel between July 2, 2025 and March 31, 2026.

Passengers can also enjoy 16% off on 20kg check-in baggage and pick-a-seat options.

Beyond low fares, our purpose is anchored on the belief of providing the highest quality of service that is within reach of every Filipino.

Capt. Suresh Bangah, AirAsia Philippines President & General Manager

Skytrax’s 2025 survey spanned from September 2024 to May 2025, collecting over 22.3 million eligible entries from more than 100 nationalities. The awards remain independent, with no registration fees charged to participating airlines.
