Vietjet has ordered 20 additional Airbus A330-900 aircraft to support its international expansion and long-haul ambitions. The deal, signed on May 26 in Hanoi, doubles the airline’s total A330neo order to 40 jets.
The agreement was signed by Vietjet Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and Airbus International President Wouter van Wersch. The ceremony took place during an official state visit by French President Emmanuel Macron, alongside Vietnamese President Luong Cuong.
According to Vietjet, the A330neo’s advanced fuel efficiency and passenger comfort features will help the airline expand its flight network across Asia-Pacific and launch future long-haul services to Europe.
“Modern Airbus aircraft, with the latest levels of efficiency and lower fuel consumption, have accompanied Vietjet’s growth and will continue to support our global flight network expansion,” said Chairwoman Nguyen.
“Vietjet remains dedicated to delivering greater connectivity and sustainable air travel for millions of passengers and around the world.”

Vietjet’s current fleet includes 115 Airbus A320 Family aircraft and seven A330-300s. The airline also holds outstanding orders for 96 A320neo Family jets, reflecting its aggressive growth strategy.
Vietjet already uses its A330-300s on flights to Australia, India, and Kazakhstan. With the added A330-900s, the airline is poised to extend its reach to even more distant markets, with upgraded comfort and new Business Class options for passengers.
The A330-900 is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines and offers a range of up to 13,300 km, making it ideal for long-haul operations. It features Airbus’ latest Airspace cabin, which includes improved lighting, larger overhead bins, and modern in-flight entertainment systems.
As of April 2025, Airbus has received over 1,800 firm orders for the A330 Family. The aircraft is currently certified to fly with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with Airbus aiming for 100% SAF capability by 2030.
