CAAP implements heightened measures for 2025 election passenger surge

2

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced that all commercially operated airports under its jurisdiction are on heightened alert. This preparation is for the anticipated surge in passenger traffic due to the upcoming 2025 National and Local Elections.

These measures are part of the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Synchronized National and Local Elections 2025.” Enhanced airport operations will be effective from May 9 to 13, 2025, following a directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

To assist travelers, Malasakit Help desks will be established across airports. CAAP has instructed all airport managers to ensure 24/7 operations and maintain direct communication lines to guarantee the safety, security, reliability, and comfort of passengers during this period.

CAAP is also coordinating closely with various local authorities to streamline passenger processing, particularly at check-in counters. These agencies include the PNP-Aviation Security Unit (AVSEU), the Office of Transportation Security (OTS), the Department of Tourism (DOT), the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), and the airlines themselves.

“We are taking proactive steps to avoid delays and ensure a smooth travel experience for Filipinos returning to their hometowns to vote,” stated CAAP Director General Retired Lt. Gen. Raul del Rosario.

CAAP reminds all passengers to arrive at the airport well in advance of their scheduled flights. Travelers are also advised to monitor airline advisories for any changes and to strictly adhere to airport safety protocols for a smooth and stress-free journey.
