AirAsia Philippines has reported a strong start to the year, carrying close to 3 million guests across its domestic and international network in the first half of 2025. This significant passenger volume underscores a continued recovery and growing demand for air travel.

The airline also announced an impressive average load factor of 85% for the period. Among its routes, Puerto Princesa emerged as the most popular domestic destination, while Taipei led as the top choice for international travelers.

“We’re proud to have started the year strong with an 85% load factor, 80% of which comprises domestic travelers,” said AirAsia Philippines Communications and Corporate Affairs Head, First Officer Steve Dailisan.

“This strong performance signals positive growth for local tourism. We remain focused on supporting this through initiatives like the AirAsia Fiesta Series and promotional campaigns tied to local festivals, encouraging Filipinos to explore and take part in the cultural festivities across the country, alongside our usual double-digit and P1SO sales.”

To further capitalize on the sustained international travel momentum, AirAsia Philippines is increasing flight frequencies on key routes. Services to Kota Kinabalu have been upgraded from three times weekly to a daily (7x weekly) operation. Additionally, starting July 1, flights to Taipei will increase from 14 to 17 times weekly, offering enhanced connectivity and flexibility.

In a move to reinvigorate travel, especially during the late summer and off-peak seasons, AirAsia recently launched a promotion offering over 400,000 seats. This initiative aims to encourage more Filipinos to explore both local and international destinations.

Travelers can take advantage of one-way base fares starting as low as PHP 185 to popular island destinations such as Boracay (via Caticlan), Kalibo, Bohol (Tagbilaran), and Puerto Princesa. This promotion is available for booking until June 1, 2025, with the travel period running from May 5 to October 31, 2025.
