AirAsia Philippines readies for surge in passenger traffic ahead of May 2025 elections

AirAsia Philippines is actively preparing for an anticipated increase in airport activity as the May 12, 2025, national and local elections draw near. The airline foresees a significant rise in passenger numbers, with many Filipinos traveling back to their home provinces to cast their votes.

To manage this expected surge, AirAsia has placed its Ground Operations and Customer Happiness teams on full alert. This proactive measure aims to ensure smooth airport procedures and provide seamless assistance to all guests during this peak travel period.

“AirAsia Philippines is proud to help bring many Filipinos home to fulfill their civic duty,” stated AirAsia Philippines Communications and Public Affairs Head, First Officer Steve Dailisan. He further added, “Our teams across our major hubs in Manila, Cebu, Aklan, Tacloban, Palawan, and Iloilo are ready to serve so guests can focus on exercising their patriotic responsibility.”

Dailisan also encouraged passengers to plan their journeys carefully. “We also encourage our guests to plan ahead, monitor their flight schedules, and ensure timely arrival for voting day in their provinces,” he advised.

To ensure a stress-free travel experience, AirAsia Philippines reminds travelers to be #AlwaysREADY Ngayong Eleksyon 2025. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights. This will help accommodate increased foot traffic and potential queuing delays.

In positive news for travelers, airfares are expected to remain stable this month. According to a statement from AirAsia, the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has maintained the fuel surcharge at Level 4 for May. This decision contributes to more predictable travel costs for passengers flying during the election period.

AirAsia Philippines continues its commitment to connecting Filipinos across the archipelago, especially during significant national events like the upcoming elections.
