Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has revealed a unique special livery for its first Airbus A350-900, transforming the aircraft into what the airline calls the “world’s first-ever flying art gallery.”
The livery, named “SWISS Wanderlust,” features a creative collection of Swiss cultural elements including rock legend Freddie Mercury, the personification of Switzerland (Helvetia) relaxing on a lounger, and an alpine marmot, alongside other iconic Swiss landmarks and cultural motifs.
Swiss artist Frédéric Siegel, known for his distinctive illustrations and animations, designed the special livery. His work blends traditional and modern Swiss elements across the aircraft’s fuselage and engine nacelles, presented with creative flair and a lighthearted approach.
“This special livery is our flying declaration of our love for Switzerland,” said SWISS Chief Commercial Officer Heike Birlenbach. “It’s a confirmation of how close we feel to our home country; and it’s an invitation to everyone to discover and explore it in all its uniqueness in a playful and creative way.”

Making this livery reveal truly unique is its interactive component. The illustrations aren’t just visual elements but also function as a gateway to an interactive experience called “SWISS Treasure Hunt.” Using augmented reality technology, visitors to swiss.com/treasurehunt can explore hidden details, solve puzzles, and potentially win prizes including a Business Class round-trip for two on the new SWISS A350.
The special livery marks SWISS’s entry into a new era of fleet modernization. The airline will receive ten A350-900 aircraft over the coming years as part of its commitment to greater efficiency and sustainability in its long-haul operations.
The first A350-900 with the “Wanderlust” livery is expected to enter service in late summer 2025, bringing Freddie Mercury, Helvetia, and the marmot to destinations around the world.
