According to a statement released by the Philippine Air Force (PAF), one of its FA-50PH fighter jets went missing during Tactical Night Operations shortly after midnight on March 4, 2025.

The aircraft reportedly lost communication with the rest of the flight involved in the mission minutes before reaching the target area. Other aircraft in the formation attempted to re-establish contact with the missing jet until they returned to Mactan, Cebu.

PAF officials stated they are conducting “extensive and thorough search operations” using all available resources to locate the missing fighter aircraft. The PAF emphasized that their primary concern is the safe return of their aircrew.

The military has not yet disclosed how many personnel were aboard the missing aircraft or specific details about the mission being conducted. The FA-50 seats up to two crew members.

The PAF has assured the public that further details will be provided once they become available. In their statement, the Air Force also requested prayers during this critical time as search operations continue.

The FA-50 is a light combat aircraft developed by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) in partnership with Lockheed Martin. The Philippine Air Force acquired 12 FA-50PH jets as part of its modernization program in 2014.
