Aegean Airlines, Greece’s largest carrier, has placed a firm order for eight additional Airbus A321neo aircraft, further expanding its modern fleet and supporting the airline’s growth objectives.

The latest order brings Aegean’s total commitment to 58 aircraft from the A320neo family, with a clear preference for the larger A321neo variant. Of these, 37 will be A321neo models, including four A321neo LR (Long Range) versions designed to serve new markets with flights of up to 7.5 hours.

Dimitris Gerogiannis, Aegean’s Chief Executive Officer, emphasized the strategic importance of this investment. “The expansion of our investment plan with the additional order of 8 new Airbus A321neo aircraft is essential for achieving our growth objectives and further enhancing the competitiveness of our operations,” Gerogiannis stated.

This marks the third expansion of Aegean’s original agreement with Airbus signed in 2018. The carrier has already received 34 aircraft from the A320/A321neo family, with 24 more scheduled for delivery in the coming years, including the newest order.

The A321neo offers significant environmental and operational benefits. According to Airbus, these aircraft provide more than 20% fuel savings and CO₂ reduction compared to previous-generation single-aisle aircraft. All A321neo aircraft are already capable of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with Airbus targeting 100% SAF capability by 2030.

Benoit de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft Business, welcomed the expanded partnership. “This decision underscores Aegean’s commitment to operational excellence and enhancing the passenger experience,” he said.

Aegean’s network now spans 250 routes across 47 countries, connecting 162 destinations throughout Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. The carrier, which has been named Best Regional Airline in Europe by Skytrax for 13 consecutive years, transported 16.3 million passengers in 2024.

The airline operates a fleet of 83 aircraft across seven bases in Greece and abroad, with an estimated revenue of €1.8 billion for FY 2024.
