Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) has further expanded its ground operations with eight new inter-terminal shuttle buses, marking the second major fleet enhancement this year by airport operator New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC).
The latest addition brings the total number of newly acquired shuttles to 12, supplementing the January deployment of specialized vehicles that included two ambulances, three aircraft guidance vehicles, and four inter-terminal coasters.
The expansion comes as NAIA grapples with significant passenger volume, having served 50.1 million travelers in 2024 — a 10.43% increase from the previous year and well beyond its designed annual capacity of 35 million passengers.
NNIC President Ramon S. Ang said the additional shuttles aim to address immediate mobility challenges while larger infrastructure improvements are underway.
NAIA is operating well beyond its capacity, and while major infrastructure upgrades are in progress, expanding our shuttle fleet is an immediate step to improve accessibility and convenience for passengers.
Ramon Ang, New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation President
The expanded shuttle service provides free 24-hour transfers for connecting passengers, complementing other recent improvements such as expanded terminal curbsides and an upgraded traffic system.
NNIC, a San Miguel Corporation-led consortium that assumed NAIA’s operations in September 2024, frames these vehicle deployments as part of broader modernization efforts at Manila’s primary airport.
