AirAsia Philippines has reported a substantial increase in passenger traffic and advance bookings on its Taiwan routes during the first quarter of 2025, coinciding with the popular cherry blossom season.
The low-cost carrier has already transported 90% of its total Taiwan-bound passenger volume from the same period last year, according to the airline. To meet the growing demand, AirAsia Philippines maintains twice-daily flights between Manila and Taipei, complemented by three weekly services to Kaohsiung.
“Travel bookings consistently surge as winter begins, with demand remaining strong right through January and February—Taiwan’s peak cold season,” said First Officer Steve Dailisan, AirAsia Philippines Communications and Public Affairs Head.
“It’s that time of the year where our guests are taking full advantage of the refreshing weather, and we’re here to make their journeys seamless and affordable for this special occasion. We want our guests to come back not just with photos, but with stories that are truly priceless—and that’s something we’re incredibly proud to be part of,” Dailisan added.
The timing aligns with Taiwan’s cherry blossom season, which typically extends through early April. The Sanzhi Cherry Blossom Trail, featuring over 15,000 cherry trees along a 70-kilometer industrial road network, has become a notable attraction for Filipino travelers, according to the Taiwan Tourism Administration.
