Based on Philippine Airlines‘ (PAL) published winter timetable, the flag carrier appears set to implement changes to its domestic route network in the first quarter of 2025. The winter timetable indicates several route adjustments and new services.
The schedule shows that services on routes including Manila-Pagadian, Manila-Kalibo, Cebu-Legazpi, and Cotabato-Tawi-Tawi may be adjusted. According to the timetable, the Manila-Pagadian flights are listed until January 14, while Manila-Kalibo services are shown through February 28.
The publicly-accessible schedule indicates that PAL will introduce an additional daily frequency between Manila and Bohol-Panglao beginning March 1, utilizing the slots previously allocated to the Kalibo service. The new flight, 2P-2771, will depart Manila at 5:00 AM and arrive in Bohol-Panglao at 6:30 AM, with the return flight 2P-2772 scheduled from 7:10 AM to 8:40 AM.
The airline is also introducing a new daily service between Manila and Cauayan, Isabela, effective January 15. This route will operate using the slots previously assigned to the Pagadian service, with flight 2P-2018 departing Manila at 1:25 PM and arriving in Cauayan at 2:30 PM. The return flight, 2P-2019, will operate from 3:25 PM to 4:40 PM.
Additionally, PAL will launch a new route connecting Cebu and Catarman, Northern Samar, starting March 1. The service will operate three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with flight 2P-2653 departing Cebu at 9:50 AM and arriving in Catarman at 10:55 AM. The return flight, 2P-2654, will operate from 11:15 AM to 12:05 PM.
According to the flag carrier, the Cotabato-Tawi-Tawi segment will be temporarily suspended during the Ramadan period only, after which services will resume. These adjustments will have a limited impact on air connectivity in the Bangsamoro region, with PAL maintaining regular services from Manila to Cotabato, the region’s capital, and continuing to serve Tawi-Tawi through its flights from Zamboanga.
Moreover, the Cebu-Legazpi route also shows scheduling adjustments in the timetable. Flights between the two cities appear to be axed, with last flights scheduled until February 27.
Beyond these major route changes, the winter schedule also includes various frequency adjustments across other domestic routes in PAL’s network. It is important to note that schedules and routes are subject to change based on operational requirements, regulatory approvals, and other factors.
Editor’s Note: This article has been updated to reflect additional information from Philippine Airlines regarding the Cotabato-Tawi-Tawi service suspension, which will only be temporary during Ramadan, after which services will resume.
