Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) ranked 7th in on-time performance among carriers in the Asia-Pacific region, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium’s 2024 On-Time Performance Review.

The report, which tracks and analyzes flight data from over 600 sources, placed the Philippine flag carrier behind Japan Airlines (JAL), All Nippon Airways (ANA), Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand, Thai AirAsia, and Vietnam Airlines.

Cirium’s data shows that PAL achieved a 76.06% on-time arrival rate in 2023, with 112,031 tracked flights. The airline also recorded a 99.85% completion factor. These figures reflect the percentage of flights that arrive at the gate within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time and the number of completed flights versus the total number scheduled.

JAL topped the rankings with an 80.90% on-time arrival rate and 314,774 tracked flights. ANA followed closely in second place, with an 80.62% on-time arrival rate and 303,464 tracked flights.

Singapore Airlines secured the third position with a 78.67% on-time arrival rate, while Air New Zealand and Thai AirAsia rounded out the top five with 77.58% and 77.46% on-time arrival rates, respectively.

Globally, Aeromexico topped the most punctual list for 2024, with an overall on-time arrival rate of 86.7%. The Mexican airline scheduled a total of 196,917 flights in 2023, operating with 115 active aircraft.

Aeromexico’s fleet, primarily consisting of Boeing 737 MAX, 737 NG, and 787 aircraft, achieved an average daily utilization rate of 10.69 hours per aircraft.

Cirium’s On-Time Performance Review is an annual analysis of airline and airport operational performance. It is considered a global standard for evaluating punctuality in the aviation industry. The report highlights key performance indicators, including on-time arrivals, on-time departures, and completion factors.
