Emirates has resumed Airbus A380 services to Copenhagen, marking the superjumbo’s first appearance in the Danish capital since March 2020. The January 2 touchdown coincided with Copenhagen Airport’s centenary celebrations, making Emirates the only international airline currently operating the double-deck aircraft to Denmark.

The resumption of A380 operations significantly increases capacity on the Copenhagen-Dubai route, offering 43 percent more seats compared to the previous aircraft deployment. The two-class configured aircraft features 58 lie-flat Business Class seats and 557 Economy Class seats.

“We are incredibly proud to finally bring back the Emirates A380 to Copenhagen – what a sight to see it gracing our runway again!,” said Morten Balk, Emirates’ Country Manager in Denmark. The expanded capacity will enhance connectivity between Denmark and Emirates’ global network of more than 140 destinations via Dubai.

Copenhagen Airport’s Chief Commercial Officer, Peter Krogsgaard, welcomed the aircraft’s return, noting the symbolic timing with the airport’s 100-year anniversary. “It’s a fantastic way to start the new year, seeing the world’s largest passenger plane, with a total of 615 seats, return to Denmark after a hiatus of nearly five years,” Krogsgaard said.

The daily A380 service departs Copenhagen at 2:45 p.m. local time, arriving in Dubai at 12:10 a.m. the following day. The return flight leaves Dubai at 8:30 a.m., reaching Copenhagen at 12:30 p.m. local time.

Emirates’ A380 service features the airline’s signature Onboard Lounge and entertainment system offering 6,500 channels, recently enhanced through a collaboration with Spotify. The airline has also expanded its route network, adding services to Phnom Penh, Bogotá, and Madagascar.

The resumption of A380 operations to Copenhagen follows a strong year for Emirates, which garnered multiple industry accolades including ‘Best Airline in the World’ at the Ultras 2024 and several World Travel Awards.
