AirAsia Philippines announced today that it has served more than 400,000 passengers during the recent holiday season, exceeding its projected passenger count of 300,000 for the period between December 16, 2024, and January 6, 2025.

The carrier expects elevated passenger numbers to continue through January 10, attributing the extended peak to Filipino travelers prolonging their holiday stays in provincial areas. This trend coincides with the approaching festival season in popular destinations including Kalibo, Cebu, and Bohol.

“We expect a continuous increase in passenger traffic at our check-in counters until January 10th, as many of our kababayans have extended their holiday leave to enjoy more time with their loved ones in the provinces,” said First Officer Steve Dailisan, AirAsia Philippines Communications and Public Affairs Head.

“This is why we remain fully prepared and will continue our operational readiness after the holidays and into the upcoming lively fiesta season in key destinations like Kalibo, Cebu, and Bohol.”

The announcement comes as the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has established new guidelines for fuel surcharges. According to the advisory, airlines are permitted to collect between P117 and P342 for domestic flights and P385.7 to P2,867.82 for international flights, with exact amounts determined by distance.

The carrier reported smooth operations during both Christmas and New Year periods. To maintain service quality during the ongoing travel surge, AirAsia Philippines has implemented enhanced check-in procedures and recommends passengers arrive at airports three hours before scheduled departures.

The surge in holiday travel is an important indicator for the carrier, demonstrating the healthy recovery of leisure travel in the Philippines and suggesting strong momentum heading into the traditional festival season.
