Thai AirAsia X has resumed its direct flight service between Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) and Sydney, Australia (SYD), the airline announced on December 2, 2024.

The inaugural flight from Bangkok departed on December 1, with the return flight from Sydney arriving earlier today. The airline now offers six weekly flights on this route, becoming the only low-cost carrier to operate direct flights from Bangkok-Don Mueang to Sydney.

The resumption of this service enhances connectivity for travelers, particularly those seeking to connect through Bangkok to other destinations. With AirAsia’s FlyThru service, passengers from Sydney can seamlessly connect to various locations within the AirAsia Group’s network.

Popular destinations among Australian travelers, including Krabi, Phuket, and Chiang Mai in Thailand, as well as international destinations like Japan, South Korea, India, and China, are now more accessible.

“The return of Thai AirAsia X to Sydney comes along with an enhanced flight network within the AirAsia Group that will give travelers the much sought after convenience and seamlessness especially with our FlyThru connections to over 50 popular destinations,” said Mr. Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of Thai AirAsia X.

Mr. Bijleveld highlighted the convenience of operating from Don Mueang, which serves as a major hub for the AirAsia Group, especially facilitating connections to destinations in India, a market with growing demand for travel to Australia.

Mr. Bijleveld further emphasized the favorable flight schedules between Sydney and Bangkok, with six weekly flights available. He added, “Our Fly Thru service also provides a hassle-free experience, allowing guests to travel seamlessly as they only need to clear immigration and collect their luggage at their final destination.”

Thai AirAsia X operates a fleet of 10 Airbus A330 aircraft, configured with premium flatbed, quiet zone, and economy seating options. The airline now serves eight key destinations from Bangkok: Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, Nagoya (Japan), Seoul (South Korea), Shanghai (China), Sydney (Australia), and New Delhi (India).
