Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) will introduce its first-ever direct route between Copenhagen and Seoul, starting September 12, 2025, expanding the carrier’s intercontinental network and connecting Scandinavia with a key Asian business and cultural hub.
The new route will operate four times weekly during the summer season and three times weekly in winter, utilizing the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 aircraft with a 300-passenger capacity. Flights are scheduled with evening departures to optimize connectivity within Europe and maximize travelers’ time at their destination.
This expansion comes as part of SAS’s broader strategy to strengthen Copenhagen Airport’s role as a global transit point.By 2025, the airline will offer 14 intercontinental destinations from Copenhagen, connecting to over 100 European destinations.
The Seoul route is particularly strategic, capitalizing on growing travel interest between Scandinavia and South Korea.
“Seoul, renowned as a global center of culture, innovation, and business, is a strategic addition to our growing network,” said Anko van der Werff, President & CEO of SAS.
The route aligns with increasing cultural and economic exchanges, driven by Korea’s global cultural phenomena and strong business ties in technology and innovation sectors.
The expansion coincides with SAS’s recent inclusion in the SkyTeam alliance in September 2024, further enhancing the airline’s global connectivity. The route is currently pending final governmental approval.
