Budget carrier Cebu Pacific announced today the arrival of its 16th aircraft delivery for 2024, an Airbus A330neo, as the airline continues to expand its fleet to meet growing travel demand.
The new wide-body aircraft, registered as RP-C3909, landed in Manila on December 19 after a 13-hour and 22-minute delivery flight from Toulouse, France. The aircraft is the 10th A330neo in Cebu Pacific’s fleet and has a seating capacity of 459, which will allow the airline to increase its capacity on high-traffic routes.
“The A330neo’s versatility and efficiency are key to our goal of providing affordable and reliable travel options,” said Xander Lao, Cebu Pacific President and Chief Commercial Officer.
“This aircraft enables us to serve high-traffic routes and long-haul destinations more effectively while optimizing seat capacity to accommodate increasing demand.”
The new delivery was quickly put to work on a flight from Manila to Sydney on December 19 as 5J-39.
Airbus’ new engine option (neo) aircraft are designed to be more fuel-efficient, burning 15% less fuel per flight than previous-generation aircraft, which also reduces carbon emissions.
The latest addition brings Cebu Pacific’s total fleet size to 90 aircraft. According to the airline, its diversified fleet consists of 10 Airbus A330s, 40 Airbus A320s, 25 Airbus A321s, and 15 ATR turboprop aircraft. The airline boasts one of the youngest fleets globally and the widest domestic network in the Philippines.
Earlier this quarter, Cebu Pacific announced a significant order for up to 152 A321neo aircraft from Airbus and Pratt & Whitney, which the airline said was the largest aircraft order in Philippine aviation history.
The order, valued at approximately USD $24 billion based on list prices, includes 100 firm orders and 50 purchase rights and is expected to support the airline’s long-term growth and network expansion.
