Cathay Pacific will introduce direct flights to Munich and resume service to Brussels in the summer of 2025, the Hong Kong-based airline announced on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. These additions will bring the airline’s European network to 11 cities.
The inaugural passenger service to Munich will commence on June 16, 2025, with four weekly flights. This marks Cathay Pacific’s second destination in Germany, complementing its existing daily service to Frankfurt. Direct flights between Hong Kong and Brussels will resume on August 3, 2025.
Both routes will be operated using the Airbus A350-900 XWB aircraft.
“We are very excited to be adding Munich to our network for the very first time as well as returning to Brussels next year, making these our 10th and 11th destinations in Europe, respectively,” said Lavinia Lau, Cathay Pacific’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer.
“Hong Kong is a world-class international financial, commercial and aviation hub, and these flights will provide our customers with a direct connection between our home city and two of Europe’s important centers.”
Cathay Pacific has been operating non-stop flights to Europe for over 40 years.
Lau emphasized the airline’s commitment to the European market, stating, “In addition to launching these two routes, we are delighted to be adding more flights on our other European routes next summer, providing even greater choice and convenience for our customers travelling between Hong Kong and the continent.”
In summer 2025, Cathay Pacific plans to operate up to 93 weekly passenger flights to Europe, an increase from the current 78. This includes the new Munich and Brussels services, as well as five daily flights to London and daily flights to Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Manchester, Milan, Paris, and Zurich.
The airline will also offer four weekly flights to Madrid and Barcelona, with the latter being a seasonal summer service.
The Cathay Group, which includes Cathay Pacific and low-cost carrier HK Express, aims to expand its passenger network to 100 destinations worldwide by 2025.
In addition to passenger services, Cathay Cargo plans to operate seven freighter flights per week to and from Europe in the summer of 2025.
