AirAsia Philippines is gearing up for a busy holiday travel season, anticipating over 300,000 passengers between December 16, 2024, and January 6, 2025. The budget airline is expecting a significant surge in bookings as the holidays approach.
As of December 19, AirAsia Philippines reports a load factor exceeding 80%, indicating strong demand for flights during this peak period. The airline attributes this to Filipinos’ tradition of reuniting with family and loved ones during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
We expect a significant surge in guest volume this week as many of our kababayans are making last-minute bookings on their holiday plans.
Steve Dailisan, AirAsia Philippines Communications & Public Affairs Head
“While we recognize the excitement that comes with finalizing travel arrangements, we encourage our guests to book flights early as ticket fares increase closer to the travel date. This time is also a good opportunity to secure your return flights in advance for after the holidays as flights will fill up quickly after Christmas.”
To manage the anticipated influx of travelers, AirAsia Philippines has reactivated its “Always READY sa Pasko’t Bagong Taon” initiative. This program involves optimizing staff schedules to ensure smooth operations throughout the holiday season.
Additional personnel have been assigned to check-in counters, and customer service desks will be readily accessible at major hubs. Passengers can also seek assistance through the Ask Bo feature on the AirAsia MOVE app.
The airline advises passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before domestic flights and four hours before international flights, anticipating heavy traffic around airport vicinities. Domestic flights will operate from Terminal 2, while international flights will depart from Terminal 3 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
To expedite the check-in process, AirAsia Philippines encourages passengers to utilize online check-in options available through the AirAsia Move app or the AirAsia website. The airline also reminds travelers to review their baggage allowance beforehand to avoid additional fees. Guidelines for homecoming gifts and baggage reminders can be found on the AirAsia Philippines website.
