Air Canada will launch its first non-stop service between Vancouver and Manila in spring 2025, heralding a significant expansion of its international routes and commemorating 75 years of Canada-Philippines diplomatic relations.

The new route will operate four times weekly beginning April 2, onboard the airline’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet. Flights will depart Vancouver late at night and arrive in Manila the following morning, with return flights scheduled for mid-morning.

Air Canada has become the only Canadian carrier serving the Philippines; however, it competes directly with flag carrier Philippine Airlines, which currently offers daily flights on Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

The route represents the airline’s 12th transpacific connection from Vancouver and its third Southeast Asian destination in two years.

Passengers will have access to three service classes: Signature Class with lie-flat seats, Premium Economy, and Economy. The aircraft features extensive in-flight entertainment with over 1,400 hours of movies and 1,900 hours of television shows.

“The Philippines is an important market reflecting longstanding family ties between our two countries with growing business connections and tourism opportunities,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President of Revenue and Network Planning at Air Canada.

The launch coincides with increasing bilateral trade, which totaled $3.4 billion in 2023. B.C. Premier David Eby noted the route will primarily benefit the province’s significant Filipino Canadian community.

“B.C. is home to a significant Filipino Canadian community who make incredible contributions to our province and want to stay connected to friends and family overseas. A new direct route between Vancouver and Manila will make it faster and easier for people to travel between these two cities including for business and trade opportunities,” he said.
