Philippine Airlines (PAL) has signed an agreement with Airbus to implement advanced predictive maintenance technology across its entire Airbus fleet, marking a significant step in the carrier’s efforts to enhance operational reliability.

The announcement, made during the Predictive Aircraft Maintenance Conference in Dublin, confirms PAL and its subsidiary PAL Express will utilize Airbus’ S. Fleet Performance+ (S.FP+) suite to monitor their A320 Family, A330, and A350 aircraft.

PAL becomes the first airline in the Asia-Pacific region to adopt the “Enhance” tier of S.FP+, which uses data analytics to forecast potential component issues before they lead to operational disruptions.

“Our partnership with Airbus to implement S.FP+ will help PAL in elevating operational efficiency. Leveraging Airbus’ predictive maintenance solutions will enhance our fleet’s reliability and high-performance standards,” said Capt. Roland Narciso, PAL OIC Senior Vice President of Operations Group.

The system integrates with the Airbus Skywise Core Platform to analyze maintenance data and identify technical issues based on their operational and economic impact.

Balinda Zhang, Airbus Head of Commercial Services APAC, noted: “This collaboration with PAL highlights the potential in Southeast Asia for data-driven efficiency in fleet management. This milestone also strengthens Airbus’ role in data solutions, and paves the way for further adoption of advanced maintenance technologies across the region.”

The implementation aims to reduce unplanned maintenance events and associated costs while maintaining the airline’s fleet performance standards.
