The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has signed a strategic agreement with Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Ltd. (AEROTHAI) to improve aviation communication infrastructure in the Philippines.

CAAP Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo and AEROTHAI President Nopasit Chakpitak formalized the partnership on November 26, 2024, focusing on expanding and upgrading Very High Frequency (VHF) air-ground data link stations.

Currently, the organizations jointly operate seven VHF data link stations positioned strategically across the Philippine archipelago. These stations provide critical Air Traffic Services and facilitate airline operational control messaging, ensuring reliable communication for aviation professionals.

The new agreement outlines the establishment of three additional communication stations: an upgraded Clark Multi-Service Ground Station, a Kalibo Remote Ground Station, and a second Manila Remote Ground Station.

“This agreement goes beyond technicalities; it reflects a unified commitment to excellence in aviation service delivery,” said Tamayo during the signing ceremony.

The partnership underscores CAAP’s ongoing commitment to improving aviation safety and efficiency through international collaboration.
