British Airways has resumed flights to Bangkok, marking the airline’s return to Thailand after a four-year absence. The first flight from London Gatwick touched down at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport on Tuesday, Oct. 29, greeted with traditional Thai dancers, flower garlands, and local gifts for arriving passengers.
Initially operating three times a week, flights will increase to five times weekly in January and February 2025, and then four times weekly in March 2025. Passengers can choose from economy (World Traveller), premium economy (World Traveller Plus), or business class (Club World), with round-trip fares starting from £718.
British Airways’ expanded codeshare partnership with Bangkok Airways will allow travelers seamless connections to five additional destinations, including Koh Samui, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Phnom Penh, and Siem Reap.
“We know that Bangkok has been a highly anticipated route restart for our customers,” said Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer. “Not only does Bangkok itself have so much to offer our leisure customers, but it is a gateway to some of the most beautiful parts of Southeast Asia and we are proud to make these more accessible to the UK market.”
Sadudee Sangnil, Director of UK, Ireland & South Africa for the Tourism Authority of Thailand, welcomed the return of British Airways, noting its timely arrival for peak season. “With so much to experience across Thailand the addition of these flights means we can welcome more people, seeking winter sun, to experience Thailand’s warmth, beauty, and culture,” Sangnil said.
British Airways also confirmed the resumption of flights to Kuala Lumpur starting April 1, 2025, with daily service from London Heathrow. In November, new routes to Tromsø, Norway, and Ivalo, Lapland, will be launched.
