Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced today its commitment to operate from The New Terminal One at John F. Kennedy International Airport, becoming the first Southeast Asian carrier to join the facility’s roster of international airlines.

The partnership will see PAL transition its Manila-New York operations from the existing Terminal 1 to the new facility when it opens in 2026. The move aligns with the terminal’s phased development, which forms part of JFK’s $19 billion transformation project.

“This partnership with the JFK New Terminal One highlights an important innovation for Philippine Airlines,” said PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Capt. Stanley K. Ng. “This alliance allows us to enhance our service and elevate the travel experience for our passengers traveling between Manila and New York, as well as nearby cities in New Jersey and Connecticut, and throughout the U.S. East Coast and Midwest.”

PAL currently operates thrice-weekly nonstop flights between Manila and New York using Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The route serves one of the largest Filipino communities in the United States, catering to both leisure and business travelers.

Jennifer Aument, CEO of The New Terminal One at JFK, welcomed the partnership, stating, “Our teams share a strong commitment to customer experience, and we look forward to working together to elevate the curb-to-gate experience for Philippine Airlines customers flying to and from New York.”

Construction of the new terminal reached a significant milestone on March 19, 2024, with the topping-off ceremony marking the placement of the final steel beam at the structure’s highest point.

When complete in 2030, The New Terminal One will be JFK’s largest terminal, spanning 2.6 million square feet across the footprint of the existing Terminal 1 and former Terminals 2 and 3. The 23-gate facility will exclusively serve international flights and feature naturally lit public spaces and modern amenities.
