Emirates has secured the title of “World’s Best Airline” in a comprehensive study by Telegraph Travel that evaluated 90 global carriers across more than 30 criteria, the Dubai-based airline announced Thursday.

The study, which incorporated data from over 18 independent international awards and expert reviews, assessed airlines based on factors including punctuality, baggage allowance, route network, fleet age, rewards programs, and in-flight services.

Telegraph Travel highlighted Emirates’ extensive operation of Airbus A380s and its network reaching 140 cities in 77 countries as key strengths. “It ticks nearly every box, from baggage allowance to punctuality,” the study noted, adding that “Premium economy on its A380s is the best in the sky.”

The carrier’s premium services received particular recognition, with Telegraph Travel noting that “Business class never disappoints and comes with a chauffeur to drive you to and from the airport, increasingly a rarity. First class has the finest wine list of any carrier — and showers.”

The methodology evaluated airlines based on multiple metrics, incorporating reviews from platforms including Apex, Airline Ratings, Skytrax, and TrustPilot. The carrier emphasized that it maintains independence from awards organizations, stating it “does not pay to enter any awards, ratings or polls, nor sponsor any of the above.”

The announcement follows Emirates’ strong performance in other industry recognition programs this year. At the June 2024 Skytrax World Airline Awards, the carrier received seven accolades, including World’s Best Airline Inflight Entertainment.

Emirates’ in-flight entertainment system, known as “ice,” offers more than 6,500 channels in over 40 languages, including content from providers such as Paramount+, HBO Max, and Discovery+. The airline currently serves 15 destinations with its premium economy class, featuring seats with up to 40-inch pitch and enhanced dining options.
