Budget carrier Cebu Pacific initiated new domestic and international routes from Davao International Airport on October 27, significantly expanding the city’s air connectivity within the Philippines and across Asia.

The airline introduced daily flights connecting Davao to Caticlan and Puerto Princesa, alongside four weekly services to Hong Kong. Additional routes include thrice-weekly flights to Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport starting October 28 and Tacloban beginning October 29.

The network expansion marks a substantial increase in Cebu Pacific’s Davao operations, with flight frequencies set to rise from 852 in January to 1,345 in December 2024. Available seats will grow from 160,000 to 289,000 during the same period.

We are thrilled to expand our network to and from Davao, strengthening the city’s connectivity both locally and globally.

Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific Chief Marketing & Customer Experience Officer

“With the addition of these domestic and international flights, Cebu Pacific reaffirms its commitment to supporting Davao’s growing role as a key economic hub. These routes offer greater convenience for travelers and open new opportunities for tourism, business, and cultural exchange, all while promoting inclusive growth in the region,” Iyog said.

The direct international services reduce travel time to Hong Kong and Bangkok by up to five hours compared to previous routing through Manila. The airline reports these direct flights offer fare savings of up to 35% for Hong Kong routes and up to 99% for Bangkok services.

Cebu Pacific’s domestic network from Davao now encompasses 12 destinations, with frequencies ranging from thrice weekly to 11 times daily. Manila receives the highest service level with 11 daily flights, followed by Cebu with five daily frequencies.

The expansion comes as Cebu Pacific undertakes significant fleet growth, with plans to receive 18 new aircraft in 2024, bringing its total fleet to 95 aircraft by year-end. The airline recently placed the largest aircraft order in Philippine aviation history, comprising firm orders for up to 102 A321neo aircraft and 50 A320neo Family purchase rights.

Currently operating an average of 3,200 weekly flights across 112 routes, Cebu Pacific serves 35 domestic and 26 international destinations throughout Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. The airline, which flew 21 million passengers in 2023, expects its system-wide capacity to increase from 2.3 million seats in January to 3 million by December 2024.
