Budget carrier Cebu Pacific has expanded its network with the inauguration of direct flights from Manila to Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The airline celebrated the launch with an event at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on October 29.
The airline will operate three weekly flights between Manila and Chiang Mai every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Cebu Pacific is the only Philippine carrier offering direct flights to Chiang Mai.
The direct service reduces travel time to Chiang Mai by up to 8 hours compared to existing routing options. According to the airline, passengers can expect to save up to 64% on flight costs through this new service.
The launch event was attended by His Excellency Mr. Tull Traisorat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Philippines, and Ms. Yatika Kaewborisoot, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
Passengers on the maiden flight were treated to Thai snacks and travel essentials from TAT.
The direct flights will provide Filipino travelers with easier access to Chiang Mai’s popular attractions, including the Lantern Festival in November and the Wat Phra That Doi Suthep temple.
Over the past few days, Cebu Pacific embarked on a massive regional expansion with the launch of new routes from its hubs at Cebu, Clark, Davao, and Iloilo.
