T’way Air Co., a South Korean low-cost carrier, announced Thursday it has signed a lease agreement with global aircraft lessor Avolon for five Airbus A330-900neo aircraft.

The airline plans to introduce these aircraft gradually starting in 2026, with negotiations underway for an additional five units by the end of 2027.

The A330-900 Neo, an updated version of the A330 series, boasts improved fuel efficiency and a longer range compared to its predecessors.

T’way Air intends to deploy these aircraft on medium- to long-haul routes, including destinations in Europe, the United States, and Canada.

Jeong Hong-geun, CEO of T’way Air, stated, “With the introduction of the A330-900 Neo, which is more fuel-efficient and sustainable, we will provide better service and reliability. We will continue to offer reasonable fares and services, as well as expand our role as an eco-friendly airline.”

The new aircraft will feature Airbus’ latest cabin interior design, accommodating approximately 340 passengers, including business class seating.

T’way Air highlights that the wider seats will enhance passenger comfort on longer flights.

This fleet modernization aligns with the airline’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and improve its market competitiveness.

The A330neo is considered more environmentally friendly due to its increased fuel efficiency compared to the existing A330ceo series.

T’way Air’s expansion into long-haul routes with these new aircraft represents a significant step for the low-cost carrier, traditionally focused on shorter regional flights. The low-cost airline presently operates a fleet of Airbus A330-200, Airbus A330-300, Boeing 737-800, and Boeing 737 MAX planes.
