Bislig City inaugurated its first direct flight to Cebu via Leading Edge Air Services Corporation on September 20, 2024, marking a significant advancement in the city’s connectivity and development.

The inaugural flight, celebrated at Bislig City Airport, saw the attendance of various aviation officials, including Lendon Dean D. Nacario, Officer In Charge of Bislig Airport; Engr. Junelito Abrazado, Acting CAAP Area XII; and other representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

Also present were MGen Gilbert S. Llanto, AFP (Ret), Chairperson of ACDI Multipurpose Cooperative, along with Bislig City Mayor Florencio C. Garay, Vice Mayor Alfredo Carmelo, city councilors, and other passengers of the maiden flight.

“This historic event marked a successful collaboration between Leading Edge Air Services Corporation and local authorities, signaling a bright future for Bislig City’s development and connectivity,” the City Government of Bislig posted on Facebook.

The Bislig-Cebu route will operate twice weekly on Fridays and Sundays. The flight departs Cebu at 6:00 AM, arriving in Bislig at 7:17 AM. The return flight leaves Bislig at 8:00 AM, landing in Cebu at 9:47 AM.

Leading Edge will utilize an ATR 72-500 aircraft for the route. The regular one-way fare is P4,800, with a promotional fare of P3,500 available until October 27, 2024.

City Mayor Florencio C. Garay and other officials expressed optimism about the new flight service’s potential to stimulate economic growth and tourism in Bislig City. They believe the improved connectivity will facilitate trade, investment, and tourism, positioning Bislig as a burgeoning hub in Mindanao.

The new route is expected to reduce travel time significantly, making it easier for travelers to access both cities and unlocking opportunities for business and leisure activities.

Last month, Leading Edge, through its travel agency, also launched direct air services between Cebu and Bantayan. Flights are also operated onboard the ATR 72, flying every Fridays and Sundays.
