The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) and the Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) are set to host the 2024 Aviation Summit on October 2-3 in Pasay City.

The event, organized in partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), aims to address key issues in the Philippine aviation sector.

Under the theme “Climbing Towards Sustainable, Safe, Smart Philippine Aviation,” the summit will bring together industry stakeholders to discuss foreign investment, skills development, and sustainability.

The organizers hope to spotlight aviation’s role in the country’s economic progress and promote sustainable development within the sector.

ECCP President Paulo Duarte emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “The 2024 Aviation Summit serves as a crucial platform for advancing the competitiveness of the Philippine aviation industry.”

He added that the Philippines must take a comprehensive approach to unlock its potential as a regional hub.

AsBAA Vice Chairman Maximilian Motschmann noted that the summit will focus on policies and regulations affecting aviation and their broader impact on national development.

“The 2024 Aviation Summit will further advance the development of the sector by promoting modern, internationally aligned rules and regulations that will position the Philippines as a competitive player in global aviation,” Motschmann said.

DOTr Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Roberto Lim highlighted the event’s role in fostering collaboration between the government and private sector.

“The 2024 Aviation Summit is a continuing engagement and collaboration of the DOTr with the private sector to help meet our common goal of modernizing the Philippine aviation sector,” Lim said.

The summit, to be held at the Marriott Hotel Manila, follows a successful 2023 event that addressed challenges in Philippine aviation. Organizers expect it to be one of the largest gatherings in the sector this year.

Interested participants can register for the event by emailing avsummit@eccp.com or visiting https://eccp.glueup.com/event/107877/.
