AirAsia has won two major categories at the 2024 World Travel Awards Asia and Oceania ceremony, maintaining its position as a leading low-cost carrier in the region.

The airline was named Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline for the ninth consecutive year and Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew for the eighth year in a row. The awards were determined by votes from consumers, industry professionals, and travel experts.

Bo Lingam, CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group Limited, attributed the success to the company’s focus on continuous improvement and innovation. “Having flown over 800 million guests since our inception, our continued success is built on a foundation of constant improvement and innovation,” Lingam said.

He noted that despite a sixfold expansion in flight operations since 2021, the airline has maintained a strong Net Promoter Score, indicating high customer satisfaction.

The company is also emphasizing sustainability in its operations. “AirAsia Group remains committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2025 through a range of initiatives,” Lingam stated. These efforts include a fuel efficiency program, investment in new aircraft with lower emissions, and reducing inflight waste.

World Travel Awards Founder and President Graham Cooke commended AirAsia’s performance, saying, “AirAsia continues to dominate the awards for exceptional low-cost service.”

The awards ceremony was held at the City of Dreams in Parañaque City, Philippines. AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla, who accepted the award on behalf of the group, emphasized the role of trust in the airline’s success. “Our winning story is one built on trust – trust in our vision, trust in our team, and most importantly, trust from our millions of guests,” Isla said.

The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, is considered one of the most prestigious awards programs in the travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors.
