British Airways customers will have more travel options in Southeast Asia thanks to an expanded codeshare partnership with Bangkok Airways. This agreement allows seamless travel from the UK to destinations in Thailand and Cambodia, including Koh Samui, Phuket, and Chiang Mai.

Earlier this year, British Airways announced the return of its direct route from London Gatwick to Bangkok starting October 28, 2024. This service will operate three times per week and increase to up to five times per week between January and March 2025.

Through the expanded codeshare, British Airways passengers can now book a single ticket from London via Bangkok to five new destinations:

  • Phuket (HKT), Thailand
  • Koh Samui (USM), Thailand
  • Chaing Mai (CNX), Thailand
  • Phnom Penh (PNH), Cambodia
  • Siem Reap (SAI), Cambodia

Passengers can also choose to include a stopover in Bangkok before continuing to their final destination.

“In October, we will be operating our first direct flight to Thailand in more than four years, so it’s a highly anticipated return to our global network,” said Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer.

“Knowing that this route will be particularly popular with our leisure customers, we’re pleased to be working with Bangkok Airways to offer more choice and make these sought-after holiday destinations more accessible,” Chernoff added.

Mr. Chulin Kocharoen, Vice President – Network and Product Development of Bangkok Airways, added: “We are pleased to expand this codeshare partnership with British Airways to strengthen our respective route networks and offer business and leisure travelers with unprecedented and convenient access to new gateways. Moreover, British Airways passengers traveling on Bangkok Airways flights will enjoy the boutique airline’s unparalleled services such as lounge access at available airports, in-flight meal and much more.”

The codeshare agreement also benefits members of British Airways’ Executive Club loyalty program, who will earn both Avios and Tier Points when flying on Bangkok Airways under the codeshare.

Tickets are now available for booking on ba.com for travel from October 28, 2024, onwards.
