AirAsia Philippines reports a significant increase in passenger numbers to Boracay (Caticlan) since the pre-pandemic period, cementing its position as the leading airline serving the popular island destination.

The airline currently offers flights to Boracay (Caticlan) from Manila, Clark, and Cebu. The daily flights from Clark International Airport are the most budget-friendly, starting at PHP 641.

AirAsia transported over 450,000 passengers to Boracay in 2019. While this figure dropped to 81,000 in 2020 due to the pandemic, it rebounded to 202,000 in 2021 and surged to over 610,000 in 2022.

In 2023, the airline flew more than 1.3 million passengers to the island, representing 19.6% of its total passenger count of 6.6 million. According to the carrier, this growth was fueled by the launch of new routes from Clark and Cebu.

The positive trend continues in 2024, with over 1.1 million passengers already traveling to Boracay between January and August 27.

“There is no season required for visiting Boracay,” said AirAsia Philippines Communications and Public Affairs Head First Officer Steve Dailisan.

“We have seen families and groups of friends visit the island even during Christmas and New Year’s Eve. To say that Boracay is just a summer destination is already passé. Even now Boracay has also become a favorite destination for [workcation] or work from home-hub. Vacation, staycation, or workation, AirAsia Philippines will continue to support our guests’ travel needs by providing the most competitive airfare to Boracay.”

As of August 2024, AirAsia operates eight daily flights from NAIA Terminal 2 to Boracay and three daily flights to Kalibo. Passengers from Central Visayas can also access the island with daily flights from Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
