The MIAA cited “unfavorable weather conditions due to Typhoon Carina” as the reason for these disruptions. Passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines for updated flight information and rebooking options.
The majority of the cancellations can be attributed to flood, resulting to the closure and inaccessibility of NAIA Terminal 4, where flights of AirSWIFT Airlines and Cebgo operate.
At 1:56 PM, the MIAA reported that all roads leading to the domestic terminal are now passable.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) continues to monitor the typhoon’s movement and its impact on air travel in the region.
According to PAGASA, the typhoon has gained strength over waters and is expected to make landfall on the northern part of Taiwan by Wednesday afternoon or early evening. “Carina” is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday night or Thursday morning.
