Philippine Airlines (PAL) and the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) have unveiled a new Passenger Transit Lounge at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.

The 24-hour facility, located in the pre-departure area, caters to passengers with connecting flights and serves as a holding area for those deemed inadmissible by immigration authorities.

The lounge, situated next to the OFW Lounge, is the result of a partnership between the national flag carrier and airport management.

Under the agreement, PAL has equipped the space with amenities including seating, charging stations, and shower facilities.

MIAA General Manager Eric Ines expressed optimism about the lounge’s impact on traveler comfort. “We trust that travelers will find the facility as a welcome respite while enroute to their final destinations,” Ines said.

PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Capt. Stanley K. Ng emphasized the importance of collaboration in improving airport services.

Our working partnership with the MIAA on this much-needed project will ensure the comfort and convenience of passengers traveling through the Manila gateway.

He added, “PAL always advocates collaboration with industry partners. Together, we can do things better.”

The opening ceremony was attended by key officials from both organizations, including MIAA’s Ines, Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco, PAL’s Ng, and PAL Executive Vice President Atty. Carlos Luis Fernandez.

This development comes as part of ongoing efforts to enhance passenger experiences at NAIA, which serves as the Philippines’ primary international gateway.

The new lounge is expected to particularly benefit transit passengers and those facing extended layovers.
