Saudi Arabian low-cost carrier Flynas has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Airbus for 75 A320neo family aircraft and 15 A330-900s at the Farnborough International Airshow 2024.

The agreement, witnessed by Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) President Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, marks a significant step in the airline’s expansion strategy.

The deal will see Flynas bolster its all-Airbus fleet, supporting its domestic and international route network, including the Saudi Arabian pilgrim program. The A330-900s will be configured in a two-class layout, accommodating up to 400 passengers.

“We are excited to further strengthen our long-standing partnership with Airbus,” said Bander Almohanna, CEO and Managing Director of Flynas.

“The A320neo Family provides exceptional operational performance and environmental benefits, allowing us to offer unique, low-cost travel experiences.”

Almohanna emphasized the A330neo’s role in expanding the airline’s long-haul operations and supporting its growth trajectory.

Airbus Chief Executive Officer, Commercial Aircraft, Christian Scherer, highlighted the benefits of the deal for both parties.

“We are delighted to expand our partnership with Flynas through this significant milestone for both A320neo and A330-900 aircraft,” he stated.

“The A330neo will allow Flynas to further grow into widebody markets by building on the A320, benefiting from Airbus’ unique commonality.”

The A330neo, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, boasts a 25 percent reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions compared to previous-generation aircraft. The aircraft has a range of 8,150 nautical miles (15,094 kilometers) and features a modern cabin design with enhanced passenger comfort and connectivity options.

The low-cost airline currently operates a fleet of Airbus A320ceo, Airbus A320neo, and Airbus A330ceo aircraft out of its main hub in Riyadh.
