AirAsia Philippines is expanding its presence in Japan with the launch of a new route to Nagoya, marking the airline’s third destination in the country.

Starting Oct. 29, AirAsia Philippines will commence flights to Nagoya, a city home to over 2 million residents, including a significant Filipino community of 57,000. This new route will offer travelers a gateway to the Chubu Region, known for its cultural attractions and scenic beauty, including views of Mt. Fuji.

“Japan is one of the strongest regional markets for AirAsia Philippines,” said AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla. “In fact, we’ve already flown 210,000 guests for the first half of 2024. We are confident we will double the 270,000 guests flown in 2023 with our competitive airfares, more services, better flight timings and world-leading service.”

Flights to Nagoya will operate aboard AirAsia’s Airbus A320 fleet, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Moreover, the airline is offering a promotional one-way base fare of PHP 888 to Nagoya for bookings made through the AirAsia MOVE app and airasia.com until Aug. 11, 2024. This offer is valid for travel between the maiden flight on Oct. 29, 2024, and March 29, 2025.

According to a recent Statista study, Japan is a highly sought-after travel destination for Filipinos, with nearly half (48.8%) choosing it as their preferred holiday spot. AirAsia’s own data supports this trend, indicating that a majority (65%) of its travelers to Japan in recent months were Filipinos aged 30-50, many of whom booked trips within a short timeframe.

Nagoya, often referred to as the “Heart of Japan,” boasts a rich cultural heritage and thriving industries. Notable attractions include Nagoya Castle, the Shirakawago National Heritage Site, the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, and the bustling Osu Shopping Street.

With the launch of the Nagoya route coinciding with the autumn season, travelers can enjoy pleasant weather ideal for exploring the city and its surrounding areas.
