Budget carrier Cebu Pacific partnered with the Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) group United Filipino Global (UFG) to host a major job fair in Tacloban City on Saturday, offering over 5,000 overseas employment opportunities.

The Overseas Job Fair 2024 aimed to connect Filipino job seekers with employers from various sectors, including healthcare, hospitality, accounting, and skilled trades, in countries such as Australia, Japan, Malaysia, the Middle East, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates.

“We organized this job fair to provide livelihood opportunities for the people of Tacloban and nearby areas,” said Gemma Sotto, UFG Chairperson. “We thank our partners for joining us in our efforts to bring hope to those who aspire for a brighter future through gainful employment.”

The event was organized by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Region VIII in collaboration with government agencies, including the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Pag-IBIG Fund, and the Social Security System (SSS). Private partners included Robinsons Malls and Cebu Pacific.

“CEB and UFG are both committed to uplift and support our modern-day heroes, the OFWs,” said Carmina Romero, Cebu Pacific Director for Corporate Communications. “By working together, we can make a bigger impact in the communities we serve.”

The job fair builds on the success of a similar event held in Cebu last year, where Cebu Pacific, UFG, and government agencies collaborated to provide employment opportunities and informative talks for overseas workers and their families.
